News This Week

Wednesday in class we will be starting both Pink Panther and Samba.  I will be doing a shoe check so COME PREPARED!!

Wednesday is also Parent Teacher Conference.  I will be there until about 6:30pm if your parents would like to visit with me.

Friday in class we will continue working on Pink Panther and Samba.

Monday's after school practice (Dec. 6th) will be for Samba - in the rec center dance room from 1:30pm-3pm

Next weeks classes (Dec. 7th and 9th) I hope to be finishing up Pink Panther and Samba.  We will then start the syllabus Waltz routine so you can be prepared to compete next semester.

Concert is Over!

Great job on the concert!  We'll go over some syllabus material in class Mon. (Nov. 22nd)  No after school practice - you deserve a day off!!  Then have a fabulous Thanksgiving break!!  We'll start working hard again in December. 

Concert Schedule

Our tech and dress rehearsal are over, now we just have to get through the concert!

Thursday call time is 6PM - ready to dance!!!  (that means you can't show up for roll call at 6pm and then spend an hour in the bathroom getting ready!)  The concert starts at 7PM.

Friday call time is also at 6PM - ready to dance!!!  The concert starts at 7PM.  

Then you get the rest of the weekend off!!

See you tomorrow in class - we will be meeting in the auditorium.  

BYU Competition Schedule

The following times are what's been posted for BYU's schedule.  Please keep in mind that the competition may run up to 30min. ahead, so please be prepared and ready for your events at least 30min. before they are scheduled to start!!!

Friday Nov. 12th

• Newcomer Cha Cha is scheduled to start at 11:35am and will start right on time.  Leave yourselves time to park, get your entrance tickets, pick up your number, and line up for the event - and be ready to dance at 11:35am!
• Syllabus Latin Rumba is scheduled to start at 1:25pm.
• The professional showcase is scheduled for 9:20pm if you're interested in watching
• Don't forget-the high school preview night will be upstairs at the Wilkinson Center immediately following the competition at aprox. 10:00pm for those who would like to attend. (high school Jr and Sr only)

Saturday Nov. 13th

• Don't forget we are setting costumes at 8:00am and the high school!!
• Syllabus Ballroom Quickstep is scheduled to start at 2:30pm
• The professional showcase is scheduled for 9:35pm if you're interested in watching

Please enjoy the competition this weekend.  Do your best, have fun, and don't forget to watch a few events so you have some material to write about for your competition critique - DUE Tuesday, Nov. 16th in class.

Team Photo!!!

We will be having our team photo taken right at the end of class on Wed. (Nov. 10th) in the student center.  Please wear jeans and your team shirt.  See you tomorrow!!

Upcoming Schedule

November 6th - HILLCREST Competition!!!  

• Newcomer CC should start at aprox. 10:10 AM
• Syllabus Quickstep should start at aprox. 11:00 AM
• Syllabus Rumba should start at aprox. 12:00 Noon

November 8th 

• We will be working on 2-step in class.  HAVE YOUR SHOES!!
• Our after school practice will be for V-Waltz (1:30pm in dance room)

November 10th - Working on both 2-step and V-Waltz in class.  ALL BE PREPARED TO STAY THROUGH ADVISORY

November 12th - BYU Competition

• As soon as a schedule is posted I will let you know the starting times of your events
• We will be working on competition material in class for those who are there

November 13th - BYU Competition

• I know it's a competition day, but we will have a costume day this morning starting at 8:00 AM.  We will work as quickly as possible to get all the costumes set for our concert, and then you can all go about the rest of your Saturday activities.
• The syllabus Quickstep will be on this day, but it should not start until sometime in the afternoon.

November 15th - We will have a lighting rehearsal in the auditorium from 1:30pm until 4pm  (if we can get done sooner I'll let you go sooner!)

November 16th

• Working on all routines in class (possibly on the stage)
• Competition writing assignment is DUE!!
• Dress rehearsal starts right at 2:30pm and goes until 4pm

November 18th and 19th - CONCERT!!!!
